Open Fasting Food

Picture above was the menu of my open fasting (tajil) at the 1st day of Ramadhan. Not too special huh
Well it was enough. It was kinda special actually because I got it for free
The owner of the house which room I rent bought them for me. She’s a nice person. She’s a christian but she bothered herself to buy all of them for me

I bought the open fasting food by myself after that. Guess the free menu was special only for the 1st day
I always like to eat fried snack so that’s what I’m usually looking for. One of them is risoles. It’s quite hard to find a delicious risoles around the place where I live. But eventually I found one at the masjid nearby.

My colleague once said that a delicious risoles usually contains milk on it. He said that because his wife always poured some milk into the risoles that she made. Well I guess maybe that’s true. This riloses that I bought taste a little bit sweet. I’m not sure but maybe that’s what milk gave you. The price of this risoles is quite expensive. Rp 1500 per piece. Usually I bought 10 pieces, and I eat them all in one shot

Another fried snack that I like to buy is “Tahu Isi”. I’m not sure what’s the english for Tahu Isi so I just put it as is. The taste of Tahu Isi really depends on the “Isi”, means the inside part of the “Tahu”. Wait a minute, can we call it “Tahu Inside”? Not sure, because it means it’s the Tahu which is inside while actually Tahu is on the outside and the “Isi” in on the inside. Or maybe we can call it “Inside Tahu”? I’m getting confused here

The price of this Tahu Isi is cheaper compare to risoles above, Rp 1000 per piece. The taste is average. Not really special. There’s another kind of food that I bought earlier this month for open fasting. It’s called Cheese Puff. It’s a crunchy snack with a lot of cheese in it. If you don’t have enough money then I suggest don’t buy this food. Because once you taste it you’ll want it more and more

I found this cheese puff snack at this link. Since I always like cheese then I went for it. The service from mbak Metha is really good. She dropped me this cheese puff to where I live by herself. I guess that’s what customer satisfaction really means to her.

For tomorrow I think I’ll go with risoles again ![]()

Open Fasting Food???
I think in english they still call it BreakFast for Buka Puasa… CMIIW.
to be honest I don’t know if it’s called breakfast for buka puasa
Thx for the input bung Dev.
Hmmmm…we have similar fav food for Iftar, most of non-Indonesian Muslims call ‘buka puasa’ as Iftar and not BreakFast. It’s for sure not an English word, but it’s commonly used here. If not they just say ‘break the fast’ . For tahu isi, some people call it ’stuffed tofu’ …
stuffed tofu? it’s cool name actually compare to “tahu isi”
Iftar yah, the first time hear it. Perhaps it’s common here to call it break fasting like the announcement posted in my company
