Heart Of The Universe – Ton Scherpenzeel and Chris Rainbow

This song was one of my favourites during my childhood. There was a cassette in my home having this track. I didn’t own the cassette, it actually belonged to my relatives. The title was Hits of The World 1984. It was a truly fantastic collection. One of them was a song called Heart of The Universe by Chris Rainbow.

I’ve tried to find some links to download the track but couldn’t find any. Until I asked the forum in 80′s mailing list. Great, they have the mp3 file for this. What’s more surprising is that they have the extended version of this song. It lenghts 7.5 minutes with around 2 minutes keyboard intro.

From that forum I just found out that this song was actually has two names collaborating in the creative process. First it’s Chris Rainbow, the vocal. Second it’s Ton Scherpenzeel. This song was included in the album called Heart of The Universe and released by Ton Scherpenzeel, not Chris Rainbow. Ton Scherpenzeel is the keyboardist and one of the member of Dutch progressive band called Kayak. Ton is at the left in below pic.

Heart of The Universe album released by Ton Scherpenzeel back in 1984. He created almost all aspects of this album. For the vocal, he was supported by Scottish rock singer/musician Chris Rainbow who was once supporting another fantastic keyboardist/producer Alan Parsons as a frontman in a British progressive art-rock band called Alan Parsons Project.

I’m not gonna say more, you can find the links to download this song below
