Smallville in Aceh
Well actually it’s kinda late. Because these scenes were taken from Smallville season 2 while now season 8 has just started in US. I only started to watch this series from season 5 in Trans7 TV. In the last couple weeks I tried to catch up from season 1 and now I’m at season 2. In one of the episode there’s scene involving Aceh as the setting place.
It’s about Whitney, boyfriend of Lana Lang (Clark Kent’s love interest), who joined the military and assigned in duty. I’m quite surprised that the creator of the series decided to place Whitney character in Aceh. In what sense that US army could be possible being assigned in that province. But it’s fiction anyway 
It didn’t tell much about why Whitney’s there aside from his duty as US soldier. I was quite happy at first because then I expected to see Clark Kent saving some people there. Too bad, Clark Kent stayed still in Smallville and Metropolis. Perhaps the creator should send Lana Lang to Aceh instead of Whitney. So Clark will follow her there 
I haven’t been in Aceh before so I’m not quite sure whether Aceh really looks like these scenes. Obviously they didn’t shoot the scenes in Aceh. But it took place on the field and river so I guess they are basically similar in most part of the world
I’m sure that many Hollywood movies involved Indonesia as the setting of their stories. But as far as I remember it’s few which really tried to describe it visually. The “Most Indonesian” Hollywood movie that I ever watch was The Year of Living Dangerously (1982). The story was about a young reporter from Australia who were asigned to Jakarta during 1965 political conflict between communist and the army.
The story was great, obviously not been great for Soeharto regime so they banned the movie . The director was the famous Peter Weir, who later made some of the highly acclaimed movies like Witness (1985), Dead Poets Society (1989), The Truman Show (1998), and Master and Commander: The Far Side of The World (2003). And the star, guess what, Mel Gibson and Sigourney Weaver. Off course they’re still very young back then
This movie got an Oscar in category Best Actress in a Supporting Role for Linda Hunt. Interestingly, she was playing in the movie as a male character, Billy Kwan, partner of Mel Gibson character.
So what Hollywood movie about Indonesia that you remember and impressed you the most?
Inget nih soal smallville yg setting di aceh. Pernah tuh baca ttg episode ini, katanya sih syuting tetap aja di kanada sono, cuma kondisi alamnya koq dibikin model perang vietnam. Maklumlah Amerika sentris.
Kalo tYoLD, pernah nonton jadul lewat bajakan (pastilah). Syuting di manila filipina (gak dpt ijin dr ORBA buat syuting di JKT) yg dibikin kayak suasana jkt thn 1960-an pas ORLA jatuh.
iya juga pren, gue jd mikir kenapa ya setting pilem asia nya holiwut seringkali mirip2x dgn nuansa dlm pilem2x perang vietnam. Kyk ga ada variasi yg laen
Huehehe kalo gue dulu dapet numpang nongton di VHS/Beta punya temen di lab PAU pas malem2x cuman ga sampe abis. Baru pas kerja nyambung lagi lewat rental VCD 
mudah-mudahan setting selanjutnya adalah Batam.. dan gue diajak syuting meski cuma pemeran pembantu sahaja
btw pilih mana, peran pembantu tp jadi juragan, atau peran utama tp jadi pembantu
Annaconda yang versi apa itu bukannya syuting di hutan Kalimantan?

banyak banget yang ceritanya setting di Indonesia, cerita penumpasan teroris gitu. pake bahasa indonesia. namanya joko tapi tampangnya cina. kayaknya mereka entah pake orang thailand atau filipina. dan bahasa indonesianya gak banget. masih mendingan pake orang malaysia, kalaupun mereka gak mau pake orang indonesia asli dalam pembuatan filmnya.
wah gue baru tau pren ada serial itu. Pernah nongol di tipi ngga yah. Hehe apa susah ya cari org Indonesia di sono. Pdhal bisa buat lahan tambah2x duit buat para mhsiswa indonesia yg lagi kuliah

The Year of Living Dangerously itu aku udh baca novel dan nonton filmnya; sebetulnya settingnya di Manila bkn Jkt…dan oh, liat pemeran Soekarno-nya gak?? jelek banget, wkwkwk….!
Banyak film ttg Indonesia yg udh sy tonton..cuma semuanya dokumenter, dan yg paling sy suka adalah the Shadow Play arahan Chris Hilton (swaer dia gak punya hubungan darah dgn Paris)…anyway, you should see it, gis..it’s a two thumb documentary movie.
mksud mbak Astrid shooting place nya kan yah. Kalo setting ceritanya emang di jkt tuh. Hehe iya bener, yg jadi soekarno ancur banget. Malah soeharto di pilem serangan fajar dapet aktor (kaharuddin syah) yg jauh lebih ganteng dr aslinya
Kalo dokumenter rasanya agak males nongton ya mbak Astrid. Jarang nongton. Paling2x dokumenternya Michael Moores yg pernah ngicipin hehe

Setting kota Medan kayak film jaman Rahmat Kartolo thn 60-an, malah lebih parah. Bangunannya ditulis dgn huruf GEDE banget, ada HOTEL RESTAURANT (ini pake ejaan Inggeris) sama WC UMUM. Udah itu mobil yg dipake pelatnya F (ini pelat mobil dapat ngembat dr mana yah?)
Satu2nya org yg lancar berbahasa Indonesia dgn baik dan benar (aseli pake EYD, kayak baca berita) tampangnya justru nggak muncul, cuma suaranya aja keluar lewat Handy Talky. Ini nih dia biang kerok instruktur bahasanya kali?
Yang paling lucu, orang Medan suka lalu lalang dijalan sambil pake payung, padahal cuaca cerah
hehe jadi penasaran pengen nongton juga. Kapan2x deh kalo ada yg bisa dipinjem di batam hehe.
Kok ngambil ‘ide’ settingan di ACEH, sih ? Perasaan View di Aceh gak gitu-gitu amat, deh ….
Anaconda, ya ?
Pernah nonton, sih…tapi ceritanya aneh…Masa’ mereka melukiskan penduduk asli kalimantan kanibal, sih …Kelihatan sekali buat filmnya ‘ngasal’

Wah ga nonton Smallville episode yg ini. Btw, Anaconda yang diset di Kalimantan judulnya The Hunt For The Blood Orchid, they even put Iwa K’s song in it, haha.
Ada juga di film Prison Break, mereka lagi ngomongin tempe (ga ada view Indonesia-nya sih cuman ngomongin tempe doank).
Wah sounds interesting. I must watch it one day when I got the dvd for that anaconda movie
