The Mystery of Google Pagerank
Google pagerank is something that’s not so important for blogger. I didn’t care about google pagerank when I first did blogging (the correct word should not be “didn’t care” but more like “didn’t know” hehe) . I knew about my pagerank when this blog had reached PR 3 already (informed by my blogger friend).
Google pagerank becomes quite important when bloggers start to think about earning money from their activity. I’m no different. But admittedly until now I still can’t figure out how it works. I asked others who I considered have more experience but still their answer is vague.
At the start of 2009, I decided to make 3 experimental blogs. I call it experimental because I’m not sure if I’d like to make it permanent. They were all released at similar time. All with paid domains and hosting. Last week those 3 blogs had an update on their pagerank. I’d like to share it here how they’re doing. Oh, regarding the link building, I made the same efforts to all of these blogs.
First Blog
I make a blog about movie trailer. This blog is purely copy paste from other sources. I copy the trailer file from youtube and the movie information from imdb site. In the 1st month I was very active in updating this blog but it’s been slowing down recently. The total posts are more than 200 movie trailers. No single ads installed in this blog. Last week google gave this blog PR 1.
Second Blog
I make a blog about SEO. This is actually ironic. Why? Because I don’t really understand about SEO 
. I don’t want to write any articles in this blog. So I pay someone to write them for me. This blog is not really active. It has only about 11 articles total until now. No single ads installed in this blog. Last week google also gave this blog PR 1.
Third Blog
I make a special blog dedicated to the movie series and TV series. So it’s like a movie/TV fan blog. I also put google adsense code in here. Actually I have enough sources to write anything into this blog by myself. But my spirit was suddenly gone and my laziness has been creeping inside Since the first time it’s released until now (about 3 months) this blog only has 2 posts. This shows clearly how lazy I am But surprisingly, last week google awarded this blog PR 2!. Weird, huh.
Conclusion :
- I can’t make any firm conclusion even after this
- In the first 3 months, it seems that PR is not necessarily related with how active you are updating your blog.
- Youtube is a safe source in terms of copyright issue
- I still can’t tell how my movie/TV series fan blog can have PR 2 with only 2 posts. The difference between them are :
- the domain name for the movie fan blog is “more search engine friendly” compare to the other 2 blogs. Is it really related to PR? Not really sure. Maybe
- I put google adsense code in my movie/TV fan blog while the other 2 don’t. Is this the reason that google would love to see their own ads in a blog even without enough posts? Again, not really sure
- Actually I’d like to make an aggregator blog as well for my experiments to see how it reacts to PR but still don’t have time until now.
So, that’s all that I want to share with you here. Still google pagerank is a mystery to me. Is it to you?

Well, I think it will always be a mystery since the pagerank algorithm is very very dynamic and complex. In my opinion, writing good contents will give our blog good impacts (and good traffic of course).

hehe iya stelah ganti wajah jd ga ada tempat buat shoutmix nih. Itu pertama kali dpt dr google. Jd itu akumulasi sejak pertama kali gue daptar. Tp pendptan terbesarnya mgkin dr 3 bulan terakhir. Kontributor terbesar kyknya dr blog sepakbola. Yg laen cuman nyumbang dikit2x
